Cyberpoint Logo

As a Design Assistant and UI/UX Designer at CyberPoint International, I was an integral part of the internal communication and design team, collaborating with software engineers, human resources, and external-facing media initiatives. I contributed to newsletters and podcasts for The CyberWire, now known as N2K Networks, helping to shape their visual and brand identity. In this dynamic cybersecurity environment, I focused on enhancing brand identity through compelling visual design, including branding, creative direction, social media graphics, and website visuals that strengthened the company’s digital presence.

Collaborating closely with software engineers, I contributed to refining client-facing applications by improving accessibility and usability, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience. My work also extended to internal platforms, optimizing interfaces and streamlining communication tools for employees. Due to the sensitive nature of the cybersecurity industry, some of my projects are not publicly available for viewing. However, my experience at CyberPoint International reinforced my ability to merge design, functionality, and security considerations in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

CyberPoint Security Research Team

The CyberPoint Security Research Team is a public-facing unit focused on addressing key challenges in information security. Specializing in vulnerability research, malware analysis, threat intelligence, and technical evaluations, the team not only supports its customers but also contributes to the broader infosec community.

Brief

The creative brief was straightforward: draw inspiration from nocturnal animals and expert hunters of the dark. This concept serves as a subtle nod to the way hackers are often portrayed in films—working in dimly lit rooms, operating behind the scenes while the world sleeps.

Objective

The goal was to develop branding that could be seamlessly integrated across digital platforms, including the website and GitHub, while also serving as a recognizable mark in press releases—particularly when companies failed to respond to vulnerability disclosures.

Creative Direction

My initial creative direction focused on exploring lesser-known animals, leading me to the anglerfish. I was drawn to its unique ability to lure unsuspecting prey—an eerie yet fascinating parallel to how hackers and cybercriminals operate in the shadows. The anglerfish’s natural habitat, the deepest and darkest parts of the ocean, further reinforced this concept, making it a fitting symbol for the unseen world of cybersecurity. I began experimenting with ways to represent the anglerfish in a simplistic, striking form that could embody this narrative across our branding.

However, after further research, I quickly pivoted to an owl. The great horned owl, in particular, stood out as a powerful nocturnal predator, perfectly aligning with the theme. Known for its exceptional eyesight, acute hearing, and near-silent flight, this formidable hunter can take down a wide range of prey, from small rodents to larger animals like rabbits and even other birds. Its ability to strike swiftly and undetected makes it one of nature’s most efficient nocturnal predators—embodying stealth, patience, and precision, much like the unseen world of cybersecurity.
